Improve database selection workflow and UI (incl. screen shots!)

Refactors db selection UI:

• We show a db "short list" with the recently used dbs and additional dbs in a dropdown
• Handles the "no databases" and the "few databases, no need for a overflow dropdown" cases correctly
• Add user logout/switch UI, which is not yet functional.
