Style handling
If I want to find out the difference between the standard_chart
and the line_chart
styles, I currently would have to copy the corresponding sections from
to a Diff Editor. Even in the Diff Editor the differences are hard to spot due to different white spaces.
a) Maybe it would make sense to create an inheritance structure instead, where the derived styles only include the diffs?
b) Why does the line chart example use the standard_chart style instead of the line_chart style? (Maybe its just a copy paste error. If it's on purpose please explain.)
c) I would find it easier to adapt the UBA templates if "general" properties would be the same across all chart types (=> only use a single style sheet) and plot specific properties would be set during plotting.
d) Are subtle difference between the styles like axes.linewidth
value .5
vs. .6
on purpose/part of the specification? If it does make a difference for you, could you please comment why?
e) Furthermore, there are subtle difference between the styles used by this library, the styles used in Excel and the style guide. For example the title font size in Excel seems to be 12 pt, whereas the title font size here seems to be 11 pt and the style guide specifies 10 pt. Is that for historical reasons?
=> Where can I find an up to date specification that I should rely on? Or should I select whatever font size etc. I want?
