Difficulties with animations

In der Tagebuchstudie wurde uns von einigen Fehlern in der Animation von Präsentationen berichtet: teilweise haben es die User nicht geschafft Animationen einzustellen, hatten Probleme bei der Animation von Stichpunkten oder es gab bei der Erstellung von Animationen Anzeigefehler.

  • Nachdem die erste Animation erstellt wurde, werden die Buttons für z.B. "Hinzufügen" von dem Fenster überdeckt, dass die animierten Objekte auflistet (see Screenshot)
  • Wenn ein Stichpunkte-Text animiert wird, werden die Punkte schon auf der ansonsten leeren Folie eingeblendet. Besser wäre es, wenn diese erst mit dem dazugehörigen Text eingeblendet werden.
  • Beim Erstellen einer Präsentation war bei den Animationseinstellungen die Schrift abgeschnitten (siehe Screenshot). Egal ob der Edge-Browser eine im Vollbild oder verkleinert war. War nur im Reiter "Animation" so, keine Probleme bei "Folienlayout", "Folienübergang" etc.
  • Ebenfalls beim Stichpunkte-Text: Jeder Punkt erscheint einzeln. Bislang war keine Option auffindbar, den gesamten Stichpunkteblock als ganzes erscheinen zu lassen.

In the diary study, we were told about some errors in the animation of presentations: sometimes users did not manage to set animations, had problems animating bullet points or there were display errors when creating animations.

  • After the first animation is created, the buttons for e.g. "Add" are covered by the window that lists the animated objects (see screenshot)
  • When a bullet point text is animated, the points are already faded in on the otherwise empty slide. It would be better if they are only displayed with the corresponding text.
  • When creating a presentation, the font was cut off in the animation settings (see screenshot). No matter if the Edge browser was a full screen or zoomed out. Was only like this in the "Animation" tab, no problems with "Slide layout", "Slide transition" etc.
  • Likewise with the bullet point text: Each point appears individually. Until now, there was no option to display the entire bullet point block as a whole.

Possible Solution/Recommendation

Don't put interaction elements above other interaction elements and make sure that all elements are visible.

Try to make the animation dialog better understandable. Maybe a new or adjusted concept is needed.
