Summary openProject

Grundsätzlich ist der Eindruck unserer Probanden von OpenProject sehr positiv und wird teilweise als das ausgereifteste Produkt von openDesk beschrieben. Es wird zudem als einsteigerfreundlich beschrieben (sogar einsteigerfreundlicher als Jira).

Die wichtigsten Punkte, die man in OpenProject verbessern sollte sind:

  • die Navigation: man sollte immer wissen, in welchem Projekt man ist und es darf nicht passieren, dass man ausversehen aus einem Projekt "rausfliegt"
  • die Integration mit anderen Produkten
  • E-Mail-Benachrichtigungen müssen funktionieren (dies wurde jedoch nicht getestet, es wurde aber vielfach als wichtig genannt von unseren Probanden)
  • Das Erstellen von Unteraufgaben bzw. das Zuweisen von Aufgaben zu Phasen sollte erleichtert werden, sodass man es nicht mehr alles einzeln machen muss (z.B. über Drag and Drop in Tabelle)
  • Das Speichern sollte sich überall konsistent verhalten und man sollte vor Datenverlust gewarnt werden
  • die Werbebanner sollten für die Endnutzer nicht angezeigt werden
  • bei den Boards wird vermisst auf einfache und schnelle Art alle Aufgaben zu integrieren
  • für globale Admins: Das Einstellen der Rechte konnte nur durch Zufall geschafft werden, hier sollte die Navigation verbessert werden.

In general, our users` impression of OpenProject is very positive and some describe it as the most the most mature openDesk product. It is also described as being beginner-friendly (even more beginner-friendly than Jira).

The most important points to improve in OpenProject are:

  • the navigation: you should always know in which project you are and it should not happen that you accidentally "fly out" of a project
  • the integration with other products
  • Email notifications must work (this was not tested, but it was often mentioned as important by our test persons)
  • Creating subtasks or assigning tasks to phases should be made easier, so you don't have to do it all individually (e.g. via drag and drop in table)
  • Saving should be consistent everywhere and you should be warned about data loss.
  • the advertising banners should not be displayed for users
  • for the boards it is missed to integrate all tasks in a simple and fast way
  • for global admins: the setting of the rights could only be done by chance, here the navigation should be improved.
